First Mass at New Devon Mission
Sunday 24 January 2010
On Sunday 24th January the Bishop visited the Mission of St Benedict, South Molton, Devon and celebrated Mass at 10am.
At the beginning of the service he blessed and dedicated the Mission and the Cemetery Chapel which is to form the worship base for the small congregation in Mill Street, South Molton. The service was followed by tea and coffee.
The Revd Michael Clothier, Deacon in Charge, was particularly pleased that among the 15 people attending the inaugural service was the Mayor and Mayoress of South Molton. The Bishop expressed his appreciation to the Mayor and Town Council for allowing us the use of the Chapel. Four other people attended brought in by the advertising done in the local area in the weeks before the service.
It was also good to have with us The Right Revd & Mrs Roger Dawson, Bishop Dawson is the retired ACC Bishop of Caracas, Venezuela, and lives in Shepton Mallet, Somerset.
Father Deacon Clothier can be contacted on 07891 767744 for further information relating to his Mission.
